These shelter homes has a limited staff that take care of the pets and they are always in need of volunteers that can take care of them. If you have the time or if you love to play with the dogs and you do not have a dog to do so, then you can visit your nearest rescue centre/shelter to get a dog to walk with. You can take that dog to a walk in the nearest park that day or you can visit them whenever you have the time and you will be welcomed there as they are always welcoming people volunteers. When you will visit the centre, you will be matched with a dog and if you visit them often, you will get to know the dogs more.
If you love cats, you can also spend your time with cats in the rescue centre. Cats needs to socialize in order to feel confident and to be able to face people often. If you have the time, you can spend it with the rescued cats and groom them so that they get a habit of human contact. Your time can help them settle in a new home in a short time.

The best thing that you can do with them is that you can foster a pet at your home until they would get a permanent home. One thing that you should keep in your mind is that the pet that you would get may be old or hurt because of their past experiences so you would have to take extra care of them. Another place where you can get a pet for a short time is your neighbour. There are two ways of this, one is that you can walk your neighbour’s dog. It is easy to find such kind of opportunity because people do not have time when they have a family and work to take care of. So all you need to do is to look for such a home and you can offer them your services for free and if you’re neighbours are aged, they will love your offer. This could be a win-win situation for both the parties.
Another way of getting an opportunity to play with pets is to pet sit. By this way, you will get money for the thing you love to do. There are many families near you that are either going outside somewhere or they are busy so you can contact them. If the pet is an animal that you do not know about then you must learn about their behaviour and foods so that you won’t have to face any difficulty.

Another way of getting yourself close to animals is to volunteer yourself to rescue centres, pet shops and farms. If you are not afraid of getting your hands dirty then you can learn a lot from the farms. The activities include grooming of animals, feeding the animals, cleaning the animals and the farm. This is one of the best activity to spend your time, so if you want to do so, all you need to do is to contact your nearest farm so that they can call you whenever they need any volunteer.
If the farm is not taking any volunteer, you can ask your nearest pet shop, if they need any volunteer work. No shop owner will say no to a person’s free help.
